Clearing your browser cache is a common troubleshooting step to resolve various issues related to browsing, such as slow performance, outdated content, or website display problems. The process may vary slightly depending on your browser.
Below we provide general instructions for popular browsers like Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Safari (on Mac) and Firefox.
Google Chrome:
- Open Chrome.
- Click on the three-dot menu icon in the upper-right corner (customize and control Google Chrome).
- Hover over “More tools” in the menu that appears.
- Select “Clear browsing data.”
- In the Clear browsing data pop-up, you can choose the time range for which you want to clear data. For a complete cache clear, select “All time.”
- Ensure that “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files” are selected.
- Click the “Clear data” button.
Microsoft Edge:
- Open Microsoft Edge.
- Click on the three-dot menu icon in the upper-right corner.
- Go to “Settings.”
- Scroll down and click on “Privacy, search, and services” in the left sidebar.
- Under “Clear browsing data,” click on “Choose what to clear.”
- Ensure that “Cookies and other site data” and “Cached images and files” are selected.
- Click the “Clear” button.
Safari (on Mac):
- Open Safari.
- Click “Safari” in the top menu bar.
- Select “Preferences.”
- Go to the “Privacy” tab.
- Click “Manage Website Data.”
- Click “Remove All” to clear all website data. You can also selectively remove data by selecting individual websites and clicking “Remove.”
Mozilla Firefox:
- Open Firefox.
- Click on the three-line menu icon in the upper-right corner (open menu).
- Click on “Options” (Windows) or “Preferences” (Mac).
- In the left sidebar, select “Privacy & Security.”
- Scroll down to the “Cookies and Site Data” section.
- Click the “Clear Data” button.
- Ensure both “Cookies and Site Data” and “Cached Web Content” are selected.
- Click “Clear.”
Please note that clearing your browser cache will log you out of websites and may erase some browsing history. Make sure you’re aware of this and save any important information or passwords before proceeding.
